Shinrin Yoku Single Sessions
Shinrin yoku is a meditative practice that comes from Japan and aims to help lessen stress and improve bodily health and wellbeing. The words “shinrin” and “yoku” mean “forest bathing”. I hold sessions at three beautiful sites in Devon - Eggesford Forest, Huntshaw Woods and Bulworthy Forest.
A single session lasts for and hour and a half and costs £30.00
Shinrin yoku is not psychotherapy or counselling and is not appropriate for more complex or in depth work. For more complex or in depth work we can pursue ecotherapeutic counselling together, if you would like to.
What is shinrin yoku? I consider shinrin yoku to be sensually attentive slow walking in woods, forests or parks. The practice follows from the research of forest medicine scientists in Japan - in particular those directed by Miyazaki Yoshifumi and Qing Li. The benefits from shinrin yoku can include reduced stress, lower blood pressure, increased immunity and cancer resistance, improved sleep, better concentration and improved mood.
One of my aims for these single shinrin yoku sessions are to give you the tools to do shinrin yoku practice for yourself, to empower an everyday good mental health hygiene practice. So it is partly educational and partly meditative practice based.
Please see the More Information page for information regarding costs and cancellations.
“Julian has a wonderful calming presence, his shinrin yoku therapy is a great antidote to the rush of modern life, and a great alternative to traditional living room or office based therapies. He is knowledgeable and brings absolute trust to his sessions, the calm way he takes you through his different tasks while guiding you through beautiful woodland walks feels like you're walking with a friend. I would 100% recommend Julian to anyone!”
